Position Summary:

The firm is seeking to expand its financial markets capabilities by growing its institutional investor and investment banking client base through the creation of a dedicated capital markets team, based initially in Toronto and with key additions to the team already consummated in sales, trading, banking and equity research. As part of our strategy to expand our capital markets capabilities across multiple growth industrial economic sectors, we are specifically seeking to augment our life sciences equity research team by hiring an Equity Research Associate, Healthcare & Biotechnology.

As part of Leede Jones Gable’s foundational life sciences group, you will be responsible for working with senior life sciences research analyst(s) to facilitate the publication of research reports that focus on investment & valuation summaries of publicly-traded healthcare firms, with breadth of expertise likely to focus primarily (though not exclusively) on drug/biologics development, medical technology development, and healthcare services. Desired qualifications are as summarized below.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with research analyst(s) to publish investment theses and/orvaluation summaries of publicly traded firms under coverage by the firm.
  • Work cooperatively to generate financial models (usually using Excel as the flagshipspreadsheet/modeling platform) germane to predictions of share price valuation.
  • Provide insights into how firm-specific and/or macroeconomic elements reflect onvaluation projections.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate training in commerce, accounting, or healthcare/biomedical sciences (BA,B.Sc, B.Eng, B.Comm or equivalent). Applicants with life sciences-focused educationwill require demonstration of financial modeling skills and/or rudimentary capitalmarkets acumen.
  • Post-secondary education and designation/certifications applicable to working within equity capital markets is required
  • Graduate training in life sciences and/or business (M.Sc, M.Eng, Ph.D, MBA, orequivalent), prior work experience in Canadian capital markets, or Level I-III CFAdesignation are desired but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills and facility with written English are essential, and candidates may be required to submit evidence of writing acumen either through prior publication history or during a formal interview.
  • Facility with spreadsheet/modelling is essential, as is understanding of basic accountingprinciples germane to financial forecast derivation and share price valuation.
  • Strong self-motivated work ethic, drive, enterprise and confidence are essential interpersonal skills for successful applicants.

Syndication

Location: Toronto

Position Summary:

Leede Jones Gable is currently seeking an individual to work in the Syndication department in our Toronto Office. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Vice President, Director.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing brokered, non-brokered and selling group offerings
  • Coordinating syndicate positions with relevant parties
  • Work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Make sure files are complete and in compliance before submitting for approval

Skills:

  • Minimum five years of syndication experience
  • Post-secondary education and designation/certifications applicable to working within equity capital markets is required
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment and in client interaction
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly, solve complex problems, and think creatively to drive optimal client outcomes
  • Ability to review, assess, and provide detailed information daily
  • Excellent capability to independently and proactively service multiple clients

Corporate Actions, Receipts and Deliveries

Location: Vancouver

Job Description:

Recent growth results in the need to expand our back office operations team. The potential for realigning current duties allows us to consider candidates with a wide variety of areas of expertise, but we are ideally seeking an individual who has had experience in both client account processing and securities cage functions in a self-clearing environment.

Job Duties:

  • Process and reconcile various corporate action payments
  • Download and distribute bulletins to review and notify advisors
  • Communicate with internal departments and third-party organizations including CDS, transfer agents and DTCC
  • Deal with new issues, Cusip setups and updates
  • Responsible for resolving problems as they arise with the receipts and deliveries
  • Investigate, resolve and respond in a timely fashion to issues that arise
  • Provide assistance and/or back up coverage support to other team members
  • Maintain department procedures
  • GIC purchasing/processing
  • Knowledge of warrants and stock options

  • Successful completion of the CSC, the CPH and the 90-day training program
  • Industry experience required, ideally in a sales support role: current knowledge of daily market activities a necessity
